Since the events follow the Eastern Lunar calendar, they fall on different date each year on the English calendar. Please contact us for specific dates.

Nepali New Year (usually mid-April)

This day, Baisakh 1, marks the day Mahayogi Rinpoche's began his retreat more than 15 years ago. Mahayogi Rinpoche bestows qualified practitioners with befitting titles on this day. Bodhipushpanjali for this month is also held today.

Buddha Jayanti (May)

Sangha members perform symbolic worship of the Buddha using various objects and visualizations in the main monastery hall.

Guru Purnima (July)

Sangha members assemble in the main monastery hall to pray for the long life and good health of Mahayogi Rinpoche and Venerable Jetsunma.

Guru Ratnashri's Birthday (usually August)

Sangha members around the world pray and sponsor or organize highly meritorious activities for the long life of Mahayogi Rinpoche. Activities in Kathmandu include chanting of Ratanshri's Long Life prayers and the Pragyaparamita sutra, Mandala offering, Long Life pujas, offering silk scarfs to Rinpoches, lighting of butter lamps, offering of silk scarfs at spiritually powerful places, feeding of underprivileged people and release of birds from captivity.

Venerable Jetsunma's Birthday (September/October)

Sangha members around the world pray for Venerable Jetsunma's long life. In Kathmandu, sangha members celebrate with prayers and pujas in the main monastery hall.
