Special Events
- Maitri Spharan Program (radiating loving kindness)
Considering the growing tendency of negative feelings arising in the mind of Nepali people, which has already shown and continues to show very sorrowful results, Pujaniya Guru Ratnashri has wished that, it being our duty, we should do our bit to help avert such negativities in people.
Every Saturday, starting from February 2 (excluding days set aside for pre-scheduled programs), Ratnashri has instructed all Sangha members to participate in the Maitriya Spharan program (radiating loving kindness). As proclaimed by the Buddha, such programs done in large numbers have shown very positive results.
In Kathmandu, the full program will start from 10am and continue till 6pm at the Main Hall in Bishalnagar, with a 2 hour break from 12pm to 2pm. Sangha members should arrange their own tiffin/snacks. Those Sangha members who do not have time to attend the full program can come anytime and participate as per their convenience.
For those outside Kathmandu/Nepal, you may organise the Maitriya Spharan program, if possible, in a group, or individually, on a convenient day and place, for as long as you can.
Regularly Scheduled Events
- Introduction to Buddhism is held every Saturday 8am - 10am at the Main Hall in Bishalnagar. Ishwor Shrestha will explain and clarify the basic tenets of Buddhism and its meaning and practice on the meditation seat as well as daily life. It is an indispensible resource for those new to Buddhism as well as for the "older" students who always come away learning something new. Open to everyone. Please contact Ishwor Shrestha at 984-155-3721 for more information.
- The Vajrayogini Ganachakra Puja is held on Krishna Paksha Dashami in the Shrine Room. It starts at 6:30pm, and is only open to sangha members who have received the Vajrayogini wang.
- The Padmasambhava Ganachakra Puja is held on Shukla Paksha Dashami in the Main Shrine Hall. It starts at 5pm, and is open to all sangha members.
- The Mahakal Puja is held on Chaturdashi. The puja is performed by lamas in the Shrine Room, and begins at 10am. It is only open to sangha members.
- Bodhipushpanjalis are held on the first Saturday of the Nepali month in the Main Hall. Narayan Rijal leads the attendees through a series of prayers and meditations, and then presents and explains a particular Bodhipushpanjali (in sequence). After the teaching, a meal sponsored by a sangha member is provided, and the group is led through a session of mindful eating. This program is open to everyone.
