Welcome to Byoma Kusuma

Byoma Kusuma Budhadharma Sangha was established by Acharya Mahayogi Shridhar Rana Rinpoche (also known as Guru Ratnashri to his devoted students) with the goal of providing all aspects of the Buddha Dharma to those interested in studying and practicing.

Byoma Kusuma means sky flower in Sanskrit. Sky represents space, emptiness, and the flower represents the manifestation of emptiness. A beautiful flower is drawn in the sky and as delightfully as it appeared it disappears into emptiness. It is a moving symbol that calls to mind the insubstantiality and fleeting nature of phenomena.

Ratna Vajra Rinpoche bestowed the Sri Hevajra Cause wang on many of our Sangha members and also those from outside the Sangha on Jan 2-3, 2009 in Walden, New York. There were total of 21 byomakusuma sangha members. and there were probably about 20 additional outside the Sangha people who also received the Wang.  Rinpoche was very meticulous throughout and spent time explaining the various aspects of the Wang.  Jan 2 was the preparatory session lasting about 2.5 hours. On Jan 3 we started around 2:30pm and ended around 8:30pm. The Sangha offered the Mandala, both on Jan 2 (at the start) and on Jan 3 (at the end of the Wang...our Sanskrit version was used).  Many non-Sangha members were pleased and thanked our Sangha for requesting the Wang (as they also benefited!). Senior Sakya lamas from Boston and New York also participated.see pictures
